Phil Peters

Lead Guitar and Vocals

Phil started playing guitar in church at 8 years of age. He likes playing classic country, 60’s rock n’roll, bluegrass and gospel. He started joining bluegrass jams 4 years ago.  On Valentine’s Day 2017 he joined The New Beginnings Band.

Elmer Sparks

Lead Guitar and Vocals

Elmer’s feels privileged to be a part of the music community for many years. Guitar has always been his personal instrument of choice.  It compliments a deep and abiding appreciation for many genres of music.  He finds moments where driving rock grabs his ears. Other moments equally punctuated by contemplative classic country, gospel, bluegrass and blues.  Elmer’s association with The New Beginnings Band is an outgrowth of a desire to play music with some wonderful friends and to share the experience with others.  It is a privilege he doesn’t take lightly and hopefully it’s an enrichment to others as well!

Dennis Potter

Bass

Dennis plays both electric (Fender) bass and acoustic bass guitar.  He likes many different styles of music from the southern rock of the Allman Brothers to Eric Clapton’s blues, vintage country and American bluegrass.  Playing bass with The New Beginnings Band is a treat, as we do play a wide variety of music and our talents seem to meld together well.

Al Varacins

Mandolin

After many years of being a research engineer, project engineer and sports car racer, Al decided he needed a somewhat milder activity to invest his time in.  So 6 years ago he started learning how to play the mandolin.  He now plays at many local jams and is enjoying playing with The New Beginnings Band.

New Beginnings Band plays an eclectic mix of classic country, rock, blues and bluegrass.  They play songs the audience will immediately recognize and bring back fond memories from happy times in their lives.
